A few short years ago I was in a bad place with my health; I was always very tired and lethargic, my anxiety was through the roof, on occasion I would have to stop my car mid drive home, in the throws of a panic attack. Each and every “flu season” I would find myself out of commission for several days to several weeks. I was not eating well, following a low calorie, low fat diet, constantly counting my “points”, letting myself go hungry if I had used up my allotted points for the day, instead of listening to my body. The funny thing is, I thought that I was healthy, I thought that I was doing everything right with my health, I was following the four main food groups and exercising 3-4x/week; doing classes at my box gym. Why was I feeling so terrible all of the time?
Flash forward several years and I am happier, healthier and stronger than ever. So what has changed? I’m getting my spine checked weekly, I’m eating more nutrient dense foods; and while I am still training 3-4x/ week, I am now following an intelligent training program and working with a coach. Most importantly, my mindset has changed; I am no longer focused on reaching a certain number on the scale or a certain aesthetic.
Each day I am focused on fulfilling my body’s requirements and achieving the goals that I have set for myself.
