Hi! I'm Dr. Kresimir Jug

rachelleandstaff-4bwI was diagnosed with malignant thyroid cancer as a teenager... and that diagnosis changed my life forever.

I’m the only son of hard-working, salt of the earth Croatian immigrants. My family is the story of the Canadian dream: we came here with nothing. From the beginning, my parents knew the value of hard work. They knew that if they worked hard, an amazing life was possible in Canada.

You can then imagine how difficult it was when they got ‘that call’ that their only son was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

It was the first time I’ve seen my dad cry, and it was depressing to witness my parents, who had always known what action to take to achieve success, frustrated and terrified from the simple yet concrete fact that there was nothing they could do.

It was awful.

I began to wonder what was wrong with me? Why was I being punished? Why should a young person have to go through this? I began feeling frustrated, depressed, and I began treating the people I cared for the most, my parents, like garbage.

If you are struggling with a chronic problem, I know you will relate to this but looking back, the biggest challenge for me, with chronic illness was the waiting in between doctors visits and the constant testing that they wanted to keep doing.

I understood why they wanted to keep testing me, but I was only 18 years old. All I wanted to be told was that I was good and to go live my life. Unfortunately, that never happened... until I made it happen.

I met my wife Dr Rachelle at the University of Western Ontario and followed her to Chiropractic College. It was there that my life would change. I read a book called Chiropractic Philosophy, and the major lesson I learned was that: health is created and destroyed. Health is a thing. Disease, on the other hand, is what is left over after your health has disappeared. Health has power; disease, because it is nothing, has none.

Let me phrase it another way – You are designed to be extraordinary.

I took that principle to heart. Maybe there was nothing wrong with me after all; maybe I just needed to believe I was already amazing and follow actions based on those beliefs.

It worked:

-- My health returned

-- I was the only patient my oncologist had that didn’t’ remiss into another form of cancer

-- I was happier

-- I lost a tonne of weight

-- My skin cleared up

-- My allergies decreased

My story is the reason I feel confident in my ability to help you. It might sound cliched, but if I can get my health back, I believe you can as well.
