Hi! I'm Dr. Kresimir Jug

rachelleandstaff-4bw

I was diagnosed with malignant thyroid cancer as a teenager and that diagnosis changed my life forever.

I’m the only son of hard-working, salt of the earth Croatian immigrants. My family is the story of the Canadian dream: we came here with nothing. From the beginning, my parents knew the value of hard work. They knew that if they worked hard, a fantastic life was possible in Canada.

You can then imagine how difficult it was when they got ‘that call’ that their only son was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

It was the first time I’ve seen my dad cry, and it was depressing to witness my parents, who had always known what action to take to achieve success, frustrated and terrified from the concrete fact that there was nothing they could do.

It was awful.

I began to wonder what was wrong with me? Why was I being punished? Why should a young person have to go through this? I began feeling frustrated, depressed, and I started treating the people I cared for the most, my parents, like garbage.

If you are struggling with a chronic problem, I know you will relate to this in retrospect, the biggest challenge for me, with chronic illness was the waiting in between doctors visits and the constant testing my medical kept recommending.

I understood why they wanted to keep testing me, but I was only 18 years old and I wanted to be told was that I was 'good' and to go live my life.

I met my wife Dr. Rachelle at the University of Western Ontario and followed her to Chiropractic College. It was there that my life would change. I learned that my health was my responsibility and that I could, by my choices and actions, help my body become healthier. I also started to believe that my body was strong and resilient.

I took that principle to heart. Maybe there was nothing wrong with me after all; perhaps I just needed to believe I was already amazing and follow actions based on those beliefs.

It worked:

-- My health returned

-- I was the only patient my oncologist had that didn’t’ remiss into another form of cancer

-- I was happier

-- I lost a tonne of weight

-- My skin cleared up

-- My allergies decreased

I'm grateful I was able to regain my health. I was blessed to work with many wonderful people along the way. I'm committed to helping you and improving your health in any way that I can.
